HIU Commissioning & Balancing London
HIU commissioning sets each heat interface unit to the network design: PICV flow limits, hot water and heating temperatures, and return temperatures, with recorded results. Balancing then aligns units across the scheme.
Commercial rate: £75+VAT per half hour, minimum 1-hour charge
Why commissioning matters
A heat interface unit that is not commissioned properly may still give hot water, but it often returns water to the network far too hot. Across a block that drives up pumping energy, heat losses and bills. Commissioning confirms each unit is set to the design flow rate and temperatures.
- Flush, fill and vent secondary circuits
- Set PICVs and control valves to design values
- Test hot water performance at the taps
- Test heating performance and controls
- Record primary and secondary temperatures and pressures
Balancing existing schemes
On existing schemes we review return temperatures unit by unit, re-set units that have drifted and identify those that need repair or replacement. The output is a schedule you can use to prioritise works across the building.
Common Questions
What is HIU commissioning?
It is the process of setting up a heat interface unit to the network design — flow limits, temperatures and controls — and recording the results.
Can you re-commission existing HIUs?
Yes. Re-commissioning existing units is one of the most effective ways to lower return temperatures across a scheme.
Do you provide commissioning records?
Yes. Every commissioned unit gets a written record of the readings and settings for the building file.
